Crypto has headlined 2020 and continues to rise in popularity in 2021. We’ve all seen how the price of Bitcoin broke records in the past year, and now we’re witnessing the rise of a crypto newcomer, NFTs.
Short for non-fungible tokens, NFTs are becoming the digital world’s collector’s items with these new crypto assets accounting for millions of Dollars worth of transactions in the past few months. NFTS are bought and sold in different niches including art, music, sports, etc. They are expected to cross the billion Dollar mark in value in 2021.
Many celebrities have shown interest in NFTs as it continues to grow in popularity. Elon musk’s wife and musician, Grimes sold her digital art for over $6M while Twitter founder, Jack Dorsey, auctioned the platform’s first ever tweet with bids reaching as high as $2.5M. NFTs have truly become the internet’s talk of the town for the last couple of weeks, and we may see more people and industries become involved in the coming months.
What’s crazy about all this is the idea that there will be an NFT for basically, everything. Even the gaming industry is getting its own NFT. @Diamondcon_ got many people talking when he announced that he will introduce an NFT into the gaming scene.
